Week 8: March 13, 14 & 16

Hours: 20.25

Total Hours: 148

This week my supervisor Megan gave me free range to write whatever TidalHealth-related articles I wanted, as long as they were evergreen. I wrote three. I wrote one on hay fever and one on cancer care offered at TidalHealth. Additionally, I wrote a press release regarding TidalHealth’s extension to MyChart, Apple Health.

In my spare time, I’m usually encouraged to work on cultural health observances, which are inclusive social media posts to celebrate special days or months during the year. I started working on health observances for the month of May.

To wrap the week up, I attended an event at the Wicomico Civic Center Junior Achievement Event. Businesses from the county attend to teach middle school kids about different careers. I went with Megan Koester and Roger Follebout, and I saw how important it was for business to be present in their communities. I even got to talk to the kids about my internship experience and what to expect when working in a strategic communications work environment as an intern. I also took photos for social media, which are displayed in the embedded gallery.

Sample Work: I've provided a rough draft and final draft of my MyChart press release, which was also featured on TidalHealth's website and came be found here. I've also included the first drafts of the Cancer Care and Hay Fever & Allergies articles I wrote as well as the May Health and Cultural Observances to be featured on social media/huddle notes in the future.
